The Schuyler County Office for the Aging provides a selection of meal options designed to meet the nutritional needs of the elderly in the county. Any county resident who is 60 years of age or older may participate in the any of the programs.
County residents who are able to get out and about are welcome to participate in the Congregate Meal program.
Certain county residents may qualify for our Home Delivered Meals. The Nutrition Services Coordinator completes an assessment for each individual to determine his or her needs for the home delivered programs.
All meals are designed by a Registered Dietitian and meet 33% of the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA).
The Registered Dietitian is available to also provide Nutrition Counseling and Nutrition Education to those needing information on their dietary needs.
Farmer Market Coupons are also available in early summer normally the first week of July. These are one per household and free on a first come first served basis.
We also have Senior Recreation and Education at our Congregate Meal sites.
The meals are prepared at our central kitchen under the supervision of a professional cook/manager. Food preparation, packaging and delivery methods meet or exceed government standards for sanitation and nutritional value.
